BARBADOS CHAPTER

The Barbados chapter of the FAAA was founded in 1978 the first president being Mr. Fitzergeral Reid. There is not much information about this early period only that the membership was small and met in the old fifth form before they fell into a short state of dormancy .

Then came the big revival when in 1985 the NY Chapter planned a big home coming. The high light of this visit was a banquet and award ceremony at the old Marine Hotel in Hastings. The banquet was quite a success with over 150 past students and family in attendance along with former teachers and principles, many of whom received awards. There was also a church service held at the Government Hill Church.

The association remain vibrant for some years, at times activities went into a dormancy  depending on some presidents performance but the association has never died.   Then cam a real revival period in the nineties  and and early 21st century that saw regulars meeting in the form of socials; local boat cruses; career show cases; church visitations; special concerts and many other activities.

Special mention must be made of the church visitations as this has provided the opportunity to promote the school and the associations work for the school. Church services were held once a quarter and usually the spoken word is done by one of our local or overseas past student pastors, we would then have lunch and go into the evening programme. A list of most of our church visitation programs can be found here at 'church visitation.'

Our Chapter was especially exited about hosting the NY Chapter to B'dos for the 50th Anniversary in 2003 and we look forward to a return visit perhaps for the 55th anniversary in 2008. Our Chapter look forward to helping past students in Canada, United Kingdom and other places where past students of our school can be found in creating similar websites so that we can be more united and in touch. We are hoping you will contact us and let us know where you now reside so we can put you in touch with others who live in your adopted country.
